Pure, clean, dirty, real and "40 years in the making - "The Good Road". This studio performance displays spirit and energy while delivering a prodigious set of both original songs sprinkled with Blues classics. Robert Johnson's "Love In Vain" and Bukka White's "Parchman Farm Blues" - just Garrick and his Martin DC-1e. One exception is a version of GD's "Everything" performed with Zachary, his son on piano.

The recording, performed with two microphones, one for the guitar and the other for the voice is proof of a bold, original artist - guitarist/singer/songwriter/interpreter just beginning to hit his creative stride. Not only are the wood and steel of the instrument and the vocal of the singer documented to perfection, so is Garrick's relaxed and charismatic personality.

These tracks were recorded with minimal instrumentation and performed with maximum commitment. This project was inspired by Garrick's first European Tour in 2011 where he performed to great success with acoustic guitar and vocal only.

Garrick's abilities are attributed to his years of writing and performing. Following through to use his talents he serves to respect Ernest and Marie Davis(his parents), for their lifetime of support and example.

The tracks of The Good Road display the pure, dynamic force of Garrick Davis' voice and guitar playing raw, real and fully realized! Stark recordings of in-studio performances covering a terrain of Blues, Rock, Funk and Folk.

From GD: "The main session was recorded at Ex'Pression College for the Digital Arts in the Neve Studio and lovingly engineered by Jonathan Pirro. We recorded 18 tracks over two sessions one week apart. I had hoped to to create the "feel" of a house or private concert or, even better, like I had come over to play some songs for a friend. Many of those tracks will never be released until those in charge at the Hendrix Foundation grant a mechanical license for the Jimi Hendrix-penned songs I recorded in this session.
I have tried my best to acquire the this legal permission and I will continue to but in the meantime I hope you enjoy these performances as they stand!" Peace and Onward!

Barriers 05:04
Winter's time for sleeping Summer's time for play Lunch is served at noontime Church is on Sunday We don't have the money We don't have the time This is the wrong moment I cannot think of the right rhyme chorus We all get lost in our barriers We don't move on, just step aside Spend too much time in our barriers Get on with what you say Don't lose yourself here I work hard at night where I'll be happy when I'm gone But I have my own fears "cause it's taking way too long Security is wonderful Accomplishments are too You need inspiration To see what you can do chorus Well, your dreams become a stumbling block You gotta over Got no time for double talk Gotta steal the moment The barriers are built by lack of desire and drive to go do what you have to to get out of your hole Life goes by so quickly but each day goes by so slow The paycheck wins the battle but a dream realized wins the war chorus ©2013 G. Love In Vain 05:18
Well I followed her to the station with a suitcase in my hand Well I followed her to the station with a suitcase in my hand It's hard to tell, It hard to tell when all your love's in vain When the train come in the station and I looked her in the eye When the train come in the station and I looked her in the eye I felt so sad, so lonesome I could not help but cry All my love's in vain The train left the station, it had two lights on behind Well, the train left the station it had two lights on behind The blue light was my Blues and the red light was my mind All my love's in vain Written by Robert Johnson Used by permission

about

"The Good Road" showcases a natural Blues ability, personality and Davis' pure talent as a performing music artist.

"Love love love the intimacy you set up by hearing you laugh and speak as if we were sitting together in someone's living room. That's how I feel especially with the entire album being acoustic...Actually the whole set - the storytelling, the gut feelings, you are so 'clear' musically..."
-Debbie B.
