The creation of "I Give You Trouble" was a watershed moment for Garrick as both a writer and engineer. Other tracks had been developed on Garageband but this one opened up the true possibility of creating a full album.

With the basic song already framed Garrick began working with the Garageband drum programs but decided to play these 'drums' free-handed on an M-Audio midi keyboard workstation attempting to channel Dave Matthews Band drummer Carter Beauford and Buddy Miles. Originally the album was going to use drum programs before bringing Grant Slam aboard on drums!
The results on this track required more than two weeks to perfect. Everything else just happened. Gas still was still using a cheap Sony stereo mic for most of the guitar work, including the original vocal track which has since been replaced. Garrick most vocals in the bathroom of his apartment. Some of those tracks are still in place, such as the"...I give you funky, funky love" section toward the track's end.
Zach's piano work was beyond his years as he was still 15 and self-taught. His performance brought a finishing maturity to the track overall yet one of my favorite moments is in the outro where, as the music begins fading, his keys bring a rich barroom feel!
