about

I first heard this Robert Johnson classic as done by The Rolling Stones on their "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out" live album. It wasn't until much later that I went to "the source" to hear for myself what inspired the Brits.

I found that I could express the longing and sadness in the lyrics as it was easy for me to relate, hence my version on this collection resembles The Stones more than the great Robert Johnson's. I just don't "twang" like Mick Jagger, nor would I want to.

lyrics

Well I followed her to the station
with a suitcase in my hand
Well I followed her to the station
with a suitcase in my hand
It's hard to tell, It hard to tell
when all your love's in vain

When the train come in the station
and I looked her in the eye
When the train come in the station
and I looked her in the eye
I felt so sad, so lonesome
I could not help but cry
All my love's in vain

The train left the station,
it had two lights on behind
Well, the train left the station
it had two lights on behind
The blue light was my Blues
and the red light was my mind
All my love's in vain
